Chief of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Titosstarwell Chyne today said employees in the Khasi hills should be thankful that they are not facing the same plight as their colleague in other district councils.
Informing that the Covid-19 induced lockdowns have impacted the budget projected by the KHADC the Chief Executive Member (CEM) during the general discussion on the budget said, “We wanted to improve the arts and culture, youths, sports, education, village court, traditional institutions but the pandemic affected the budget we had projected.”
However, he praised his executive committee who still manages to pay full salaries to staff despite all the hardships unlike the other ADC’s in the state.
Urging the staff to work hard to improve the revenue of the district council he also assured that arrears of the MDCs and the staff will be cleared this year and asked MDCs to submit the utilisation certificates in time.
Stating that the council asset of Rs 15 crore is just the carryover from the last budget, he however admitted there are some useless council assets and some assets significant for revenue generation for the council.
Earlier today during the question hours EM in-charge Market informed that the total amount of fees collected by the market department from April 1, 2021 to date is Rs 4, 10, 140.
