The Joint Action Committee of the Khasi-Jaintia Fresh Vegetables and Ginger Trader Association has strongly opposed the KHADC notification banning deduction (ot kilo) from farmers’ produce.
Earlier this month, the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council banned the deduction of weight of agricultural produce in Ïewduh, a step frowned upon by farmers, and mandated that sacks be weighed separately.
The traders today opined that they are like brothers with the farmers and that such a notification, without taking the traders on board, is unacceptable.
