The All Meghalaya Karbi Association (AMKA) today held its 48th annual conference in Sohliya village under Ri Bhoi aimed to unite the Karbi community in Meghlaya and to ensure preservation of their culture and identity.
Executive member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Syrya Rongphar attended the conference as the chief guest in the presence of AMKA founder member, BS Teron, President of Karbi Students Association, Samdon Teron, AMKA President, Bistocan Timung, prominent leaders from the community and representatives from different villages of Ri Bhoi district among the others.
Leaders at the conference laid stress on unity not just amongst the community but to foster love, peace and brotherhood with the Khasi community, which existed since time immemorial.
Traditional dances and songs performed by the Karbi youths from different villages of Ri Bhoi were the highlights of the conference.
