Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang today assured to give full cooperation to bring about peace and tranquility in the border areas and to see that second phase of the boundary talk between Meghalaya and Assam takes place.
Ronghang who led a delegation from the KAAC met Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member Pyniaid Sing Syiem and held discussion on various issues concerning the border areas under Block 2.
Speaking to media persons, Syiem said that the KAAC chief has assured to give full cooperation to bring about peace and tranquility in the border areas and to see that the second phase of the boundary talk between the two states becomes a reality.
“The CEM of Karbi Anglong has promised us full cooperation and protection to our people in the border areas since most of the areas under Block 2 is under the KHADC,” Syiem said adding that they also discussed the unfortunate incidents that occurred in Block 1 that is under the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).
Informing that there are 23 Khasi villages under Block 2 that the new executive committee of KHADC visited recently, Syiem said that during the discussion with the Karbi leaders, they have also expressed their stance that Khasi people and farmers of those areas should not be harassed in any manner.
Expressing hope that all the difficulties can be removed through the process of dialogue and discussion between the two states, Syiem said that a delegation from the KHADC will visit KAAC to discuss all the issues in depth.
