The Jaintia Students Union (JSU) has urged the authorities to repair the road from Khimusniang to the P.H.E. Water Treatment Plant in Jowai, West Jaintia Hills, citing its deplorable condition.
The road has been in disrepair for over a decade, severely impacting residents and students who face unsafe commuting conditions daily.
According to the JSU, the situation has worsened with the ongoing monsoon season, making the road nearly impassable and posing serious safety concerns. Despite the Executive Engineer’s office submitting a revised estimate for the repair project, there has been no visible progress on the ground.
The JSU has sought the PHE minister’s intervention to approve and expedite the necessary work, warning that further delays will prompt them to explore alternative measures to restore this essential infrastructure. The minister has assured to look into the matter.
