The delimitation committee formed by the executive committee of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) to examine the demand to reorganise the boundaries of some constituencies has announced the dates for a public hearing to allow stakeholders to give their suggestions.
The first public hearing will be held at Amlarem on July 8 at the Syiem Jingsuk Parish Hall. On July 9 the public hearing will be held at the District Library, Jowai and at Khliehriat West Community Hall in East Jaintia Hills on July 11.
The public hearings are scheduled at 11 am in all the three venues. Registration of participants during the public hearing will commence from 10 am to 10:45 am, the committee said, adding, only registered participants will be allowed to speak for five minutes.
It may be mentioned that the delimitation committee of the JHADC has been tasked to make adjustment of voters so that there is parity in the number of voters in the constituencies.
The public hearing at Amlarem will discuss delimitation of War-East, War-West and War-Central constituencies.
Those in Jowai are Amwi-Khliehtyrshi, Mukhla-Ummulong, Moodymmai-Nongkroh, Wahiajer-Kyndong, Moodop-Umladang, Mynso-Nongjngi, Mynsangat-Khanduli, Shiliangmyntang-Namdong, Barato- Mukroh, Mowtyrshiah-Saphai, Sahsniang-Mowkaiaw, Raliang, Shangpung, Jowai-North, Jowai-Central and Jowai- South constituencies.
In Khliehriat the public hearing will discuss delimitation of Muthlong-Sohkymphor, Tuber, Musniang-Rangad, Rymbai-Khliehriat, Sutnga-Narwan, Sutnga- Nongkhlieh, Sumer, Saipung-Nongkhlieh, Narpuh and Bataw-Lakadong constituency.
