There were 36 new cases of Covid-19 reported today from a cluster at the Indian Institute of Management’s Umsawli campus.
Statewide, there were 172 new cases (the highest figure for a Sunday, when cases are usually lower, in four week), 180 recoveries and two fatalities.
One of the fatalities was in Ri-Bhoi and one in West Khasi Hills. Both were of unvaccinated people, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 106 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 42, West Jaintia Hills 13 and 11 between the other eight districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 70 recoveries, West Khasi Hills 69, West Jaintia Hills 14, Ri-Bhoi 11, South West Khasi Hills 10 and six between the other six districts.
There are now 1,547 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 849 active cases, West Khasi Hills 346, West Jaintia Hills 174, Ri-Bhoi 94, South West Khasi Hills 27, West Garo Hills 24, East Jaintia Hills 17, East Garo Hills six, South West Garo Hills five, North Garo Hills four and South Garo Hills one.
In all, Meghalaya has had 81,747 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,547 are active, 78,793 have recovered and 1,407 have died from the virus. The recovery rate is 96.39 percent. The fatality is 1.72 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases is 136.86 and for new deaths is 2.14.
