A needs-based inputs and essential items distribution programme was conducted for tribal farmers of Umroi, Ri-Bhoi under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) at Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) today.
Umroi MLA George B Lyngdoh, ICAR director VK Mishra and others were present on the occasion. The programme was conducted abiding with the Covid-19 protocols, an ICAR press release said.
Agricultural and needs-based inputs were handed over to the Block Development Officer of Bhoirymbong, CJK Warjri, for their distribution to the farmers.
Mishra pointed out that the outbreak of coronavirus disease has affected the poor farmers of Meghalaya in unprecedented ways. In this regard, farmers need to be supplemented with needs-based agricultural inputs and essential items in order to fight the pandemic situation and in this vein the distribution programme was conducted.
