Director ICAR-ATARI Zone VII, Dr. A. K Mohanty visited KVK, Ri Bhoi to interact with farmers trained under Agriculture Skill Development Council of India training programme of nursery workers.
Dr. Mohanty emphasized about the role of KVK to carry the technology from laboratory to farmers’ field. He highlighted the deliverables to farmers through skill development trainings and benefits that can be drawn by youths through ASCI skill development training certificates.
He further encouraged farmers to take up enterprises such as production of quality planting materials for self employment generation.
The Director also interacted with the SMSs of KVK and emphasized to work on technology application at farmers’ field through joint multidisciplinary approach.
During the programme, certificates and mark sheets issued by ASCI, New Delhi was also given to 24 trainees who completed the skill development programme.
Principal Scientist of ATARI Dr. R Bordoloi, Dr. Mokidul Islam, Principal Scientist and Head, KVK-Ri Bhoi, SMS Horticulture Dr Utpal Barua and farmers were present on the occasion.
