The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO), South West Khasi Hills District today destroyed drugs seized during its own operation conducted this morning.
HITO is part of the Joint Action Committee on Social Organization (JACSO) that comprises the Village Defence Party, Seng Samla Shnong, Seng Longkmie and pressure groups.
According to the organisation, a drug user was in their radar for the past one week and they successfully nabbed him near the Mawkyrwat Civil Hospital.
However HITO did not specify the types of drug and the amount seized but said the seized item was burnt in the presence of JACSO president JF Iawphniaw.
HITO said the drug user will be admitted to a rehabilitation centre in Shillong and urged the government to speed up setting up one in the district.
