A motorist was killed when Congress candidate and former minister Deborah Marak’s son rammed his car into a scooty in Williamnagar.
The incident occurred at around 9:30 pm near the super market in Williamnagar on January 17.
According to reports, Marak’s son identified as Ruchil C Marak was reportedly driving at high speed when his white hyndai i20 car bearing registration number ML05N- 2324 dashed against Sengsrang B Marak who was riding a scooty (ML 13-0139).
The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Williamnagar Civil Hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Ruchil was arrested and later bailed after he surrendered to the police the next day.
A suo moto case has been registered u/s 279/ 337/ 427/ 304A IPC.
Meanwhile, Williamnagar MDC Alphonsush R Marak who reached out to the grieving family stated that the victim worked as a labourer at a nursery near Williamnagar station. He is survived by his wife and two minor daughters studying in Class 6 and 8.
