Shillong, Jun 1: The Meghalaya High Court on Monday heard arguments of the state government seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, who is being tried for the murder of her husband Raja, and posted the matter for further hearing on June 3.
“Heard Mr A Kumar, learned AG for the State-petitioner. Hearing is not completed. List the matter for further hearing on 03.06.2026,” Justice Wanlura Diengdoh said in the order.
On May 12, the court heard the criminal petition filed by the Meghalaya government, contesting the bail granted by a lower court on April 27.
On May 21, the court had initially postponed the hearing to allow the defense counsel to present their case adequately.
Sonam was granted conditional bail by additional DC (judicial), Shillong, Dashalene R Kharbteng, citing procedural lapses during her arrest, saying she was not made aware of the correct section of the BNS under which she was held.
