Shillong, Jun 10: The Meghalaya High Court has reserved its judgment in the petition filed by the state government challenging the bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi.
The case was heard today by a single bench comprising Justice Wanlura Diengdoh. S Chanda, counsel for Sonam, filed written arguments before the court during the hearing.
Sonam was granted bail on April 27 but the state government challenged this in the High Court.
The lower court had cited procedural lapses during her arrest, noting that she was not informed of the correct section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita under which she was held.
The case relates to the murder of Sonam’s husband Raja in Sohra, which drew national and international attention last year.
