Arts and Culture Minister A L Hek has written to Union Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel for financial assistance for a variety of projects.
In a letter to Patel, Hek said that detailed project reports (DPRs) have been submitted for a Tagore Cultural Complex and for a Sein Raij Traditional Dancing Area, Village Haat and Sein Raij Cultural Centre at Iaw Musiang, Jowai.
He also urged Patel to provide special consideration for development of the Shillong Golf Course, including the widening of the approach road to “enable tourists to reach the scenic spot”.
Hek added that the Meghalaya government plans to hold national and international events at the course, including the 2022 National Games.
“Beautification and expansion of this historic spot will bring tourists in large number,” Hek said, adding that the state plans to have a children’s park, food court and other amenities in the area.
