Shillong, Sep 7: The Meghalaya High Court on Monday took on record the status report filed by the State while hearing a PIL on vandalism, assaults, and property damage that occurred following a Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) rally in Shillong on August 19.
A division bench of Chief Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh said investigation papers will not be perused at this stage, noting a probe is in progress.
The court appointed Advocate Philemon Nongbri as Amicus Curiae to assist in the PIL.
Head of the Special Investigation Team IGP DNS Marak, SP East Khasi Hills and officers of Sadar and Lumdiengjri PS were present at the hearing.
The court listed the matter to be heard next on October 1 with a fresh status report.
