Shillong, Oct 16: The Meghalaya High Court has directed a three-member committee to assess the current condition and functionality of the weighbridges and weighpads across the state.
A division bench of Chief Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh on Thursday gave the committee four weeks to submit its report.
The committee comprises a retired IAS officer Ethan War Kharmalki, advocate Treiborlang Jyrwa and officer on special duty (OSD) of the State Legal Services Authority.
This decision comes in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by social activist Tennydard M Marak, alleging significant revenue losses due to malfunctioning and inadequate weighbridge facilities.
