The Chokpot regional unit of the Garo Students Union (GSU) has appealed to the state government to revoke the transfer of two officials who the pressure group feels have been serving the people with distinction.
The GSU expressed “concern” regarding the recent transfer (the order of which was dated June 18) of Pittingson R Sangma, who was serving as the Sub-Divisional Officer, and Jericko N Sangma, who was serving as the Block Development Officer in Chokpot.
Pittingson has only been serving the people of Chokpot for one month and, during this time, “he has demonstrated exemplary dedication and kindness in discharging his duties. We strongly believe that he should not be transferred as he has not had enough time to make a significant impact and we believe he is a valuable asset to the Chokpot community,” the GSU regional unit general secretary Spensar R Sangma said.
Similarly, the transfer of Jericko, who has been overseeing the developmental activities in Chokpot, has left the community deeply disappointed, Spensar said.
“We kindly request that the concerned authorities reconsider the decision to transfer these officers, as their presence and contributions are greatly valued by the residents of Chokpot. As representatives of the community, we urge you to take our sentiments into account and address this matter with the utmost urgency,” the GSU added.
