The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) of Pedaldoba, has appealed to new Health Minister James Sangma to appoint an assistant doctor at the Pedaldoba Primary Health Centre.
The PHC, the GSMC said in a statement, is located in a highly-populated region with a population of more than one lakh, but is served by just one doctor.
Not only does the PHC cater to a lot of births, it also has to deal with a high number of tuberculosis patients.
The GSMC praised the efforts of the serving doctor, Aira Ch Marak, in singlehandedly doing all he can but said that an assistant needs to be appointed, especially given the Covid-19 pandemic.
