Tree plantation drives in all polling stations across the state have been planned by the office of the State Chief Electoral Officer.
A meeting to discuss on the plans ahead was convened by CEO, BDR Tiwari today with the Commissioner and Secretary, Forest and Environment Department Praveen Bakshi and Secretary of Education Ambrose Marak on promoting ‘Clean and Green Election’ in the state.
Tiwari informed that two saplings will be given to the first male and female voters to plant it at the polling station.
Since most of the polling stations are educational institutions, the CEO urged the Education department to convey the message to the institutions to identify a space for planting the saplings and to nurture it.
Further, the arrangements of signages and tree protection will also be ensured by the Election Department.
The CEO highlighted the efforts and initiatives to make the upcoming election, maximum plastic free or minimum plastic use and use of less paper.
