As Meghalaya prepares for the approaching monsoon season, Disaster Management Minister Kyrmen Shylla has urged citizens to remain alert and cooperative in the face of potential natural calamities.
“Every year during the monsoon Meghalaya experiences devastation, often resulting in the loss of lives,” Shylla stated today. “This time, our officers have already begun preparations and we are trying our best to mitigate the risks.”
Acknowledging the state’s challenging geography and vulnerability to seismic activity, the minister placed importance on community support and proactive safety measures. “Natural disasters can strike at any moment. We cannot afford to take things lightly.”
Shylla reassured the public that the government is committed to providing the best possible services during emergencies but reminded citizens that natural disasters remain largely unpredictable. “No matter how much we prepare, nature has its own course. That’s why I urge everyone to stay alert and support one another,” he said.
