The Health and Family Welfare Department is constantly monitoring the Covid-19 situation in Meghalaya, minister James PK Sangma said today.
Infections are rising sharply, with 687 active cases in the state, two-thirds of which are in Garo Hills.
The state government will take a call on whether there is a need to strengthen Covid protocols or not, Sangma said, adding that, as of now, the infrastructure created to cope with previous waves should be enough to deal with the rise in cases, though there is a risk of the health service becoming overburdened if cases exceed capacity.
