The state government is ecstatic with the success of ‘Ka Lawei’, a digital education programme in East Jaintia Hills.
‘Ka Lawei’ (The Future) is a programme initiated by the EJH Deputy Commissioner with the idea of enhancing education by integrating digital technology to empower teachers.
Speaking to reporters about this programme today, Education Minister Rakkam Sangma said that 15 schools were given smart TV digital content and that students, parents and teachers have embraced it.
The programme has already seen results, with the minister referring to one particular school in the district which did not perform well in the SSLC exams prior going on to achieve a pass result of 100 percent.
The curriculum focused on subjects such as mathematics, science, history, civics, geography and economics while also incorporating two additional subjects – computers, and English grammar – in alignment with MBOSE.
Sangma, who visited East Jaintia Hills, also reviewed the programme and the educational scenario in the district.
To celebrate the efforts of the teachers and the schools in Project Ka Lawei, a felicitation program was organised yesterday at Don Bosco College in Byndihati and schools and teachers were felicitated for their contribution and diligent addition of smart classes in their teaching.
