The Congress has slammed the state government stating that the expenditure is higher than budgeted just for electoral benefits.
Questioning the MDA government over the distribution of cheques and pigs ahead of the last assembly election, Congress leader Manuel Badwar said, “Has the distribution of pigs and Rs 5000 per family before election resulted in any development?”
Speaking to reporters about the performance of the MDA government, Badwar said “The MDA government is the same wine in a new bottle and there is lot of fluffing and spending evern from the budget.”
“There is a lot of revenue expenditure and capital expenditure has hardly grown,” the Congress leader said.
Badwar said that the Congress is going to the public to detail what MP Vincent H Pala has done. “Our MP has done a lot and he likes to work more and talk less. Others may make lot of noise, but I believe people will look at the Congress as a party that can bring many things to the country,” he said.
Earlier, the party also highlighted the five commitments, which the party has vowed to implement, if they form the government at the centre.
Badwar said that the party will focus social security for the gig economy, insurance health scheme for unorganised workers as is being done in many Congress ruled states.
He also said that the Congress will come with legislations where a graduate in his very first job in the private sector would get a salary of Rs 8, 500 per month since many of the graduates and first timers get underpaid.
Stating that the party will spend around Rs 10,000 crore on entrepreneurship, he added that the Congress will also take measures to reduce the paper leaks of the competitive exams as there have been 41 paper leaks last year.
He also said that the party’s focus will be on filling up the huge vacancies which are lying pending in several departments.
