Garo Hills marched to thank the armed forces for the success of Operation Sindoor and to express appreciation for the valour, bravery, and sacrifice of India’s defence forces.
Two events were held in Tura today organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which was participated by citizens, including students and institutions with patriotic fervour.
The ‘Tiranga Yatra’ of the BJP began from the District Auditorium through the streets of Tura Market, Hawakhana, and Ringre. Participants waved the national flag in a solemn tribute to the nation’s defenders.
BJP Vice President Bernard Marak paid homage to the unwavering courage of the Indian Armed Forces, including the BSF, CRPF, and local police. “India has never bowed to terrorism, and this is because of the selfless service of our brave men and women in uniform,” he said.
A special commemoration and interfaith prayer followed the rally, held in memory of those who laid down their lives in the line of duty. The event concluded with a collective message of national pride and unity, reinforcing the importance of supporting and remembering the sacrifices of security personnel.
The TMC held a ‘Solidarity March’ which began from William Point and culminated at the TMC Office in Tura.
Former Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma and Dadenggree MLA Rupa M Marak attended the rally.
In his address, Dr Sangma emphasised the importance of demonstrating solidarity with the nation’s defence forces, acknowledging their tireless efforts in safeguarding the country. He also expressed gratitude for the defence forces’ unwavering commitment to national security.
The solidarity march brought together individuals from various backgrounds to pay tribute to the defence forces’ bravery and sacrifice.
