Shillong, Oct 28: Out of 242 candidates who appeared for an interview and assessment rounds for the post of cabin crew by Indigo airlines, only four were appointed.
India’s largest airline conducted a campus recruitment drive in collaboration with the Emporium Skills Training Institute (ESTI) at its training centre located within the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Laitumkhrah here.
A total of 700 candidates from across the North Eastern region registered online for the recruitment.
DBYC Director Fr. Michael Makri said, “It is disheartening to learn that around 700 students applied for this interview, yet only four were selected. Many candidates, especially from Meghalaya, did not meet the required height, while others faced health or communication challenges, particularly in Hindi and English. I encourage those who were not selected to come to our centre for further training and preparation.”
Earlier in September 2025, ESTI and DBYC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on employment-linked professional training and recruitment in the fields of Aviation, Hospitality, and Luxury International Cruise Lines. The partnership seeks to empower the educated yet unemployed youth of Meghalaya and the entire North East region through globally relevant skill development and placement programs.
The cabin crew recruitment was the first drive organised under the new MoU, with more domestic and international employment opportunities scheduled in the coming months.
Through this collaboration, ESTI will continue to train aspiring youth at the centre, preparing them for gainful employment in over 20 countries worldwide, the DBYC said.
