The ICAR-KVK, West Garo Hills conducted a one day programme on strengthening of Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) of five blocks of the district through capacity building on ‘Improved Cashew Production Technology and Input distribution’.
Members of the five FPCs of Dadenggre, Dalu, Gambegre, Rongram and Selsella blocks attended the programme.
Quality planting material of seven high yielding cashew varieties received from Directorate of Cashew Research, Karnataka under NEH programme were distributed to the FPCs.
During the capacity building programme, Dr. Joyoshree Mahanta, CTO (PP) provided guidance to the FPC’s on the initial establishment and care of the orchard.
Chairmen of the FPC’s also expressed their willingness to plant the improved varieties in the respective blocks and thanked KVK for the initiative.
Dr. Monica Suresh Singh, SS-cum-Head of KVK spoke about the characteristics of the seven cashew varieties that were distributed to the FPC’s.
