On the eve of Republic Day 2023, four police personnel from Meghalaya have been named for the President’s Police Medals.
Prodenson Sangma, Havildar of First MLP Battalion, Mawiong was conferred the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
The Police Medal for Meritorious Service was conferred on Upendra Mothey (Armed Branch Sub-Inspector from Second MLP Battalion), Kolan Swer (Havildar, Shillong) and Ram Bahadur Sonar (Armed Branch Constable, Tura).
Meanwhile, one officer and three havildars from the Meghalaya Civil Defence and Home Guards Department were awarded the Home Guards and Civil Defence Medals.
The Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to Pynkhambor Harris Khongsngi (Senior Staff Officer, Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Shillong), Homesingh Khongjoh (Havildar, Central Training Institute, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong), Bipul Khongwir (Havildar, Central Training Institute, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong) and Ambrush A. Sangma (Havildar, District Training Centre Home Guards, Ampati).
