Shillong, Apr 18: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today laid the foundation stone for a multi-facility building at Dakopgre, West Garo Hills.
The building is expected to serve as a key hub for community activities and developmental initiatives in Dakopgre and adjoining areas.
The chief minister expressed joy in seeing this dream become a reality. He noted that the development not only fulfils a community need but also signals a brighter future for Dakopgre’s infrastructure, citing several upcoming projects like the P.A. Sangma Integrated Sports Complex and a new five-star hotel, which promise to boost local tourism.
With an allocation of Rs 52 lakh shared between the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund and the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority, the project is set to offer various community programs, including skill development and cultural activities.
Sangma emphasised ensuring quality throughout construction and urged the community to collaborate for successful outcomes. He expressed optimism for Dakopgre’s role in the upcoming National Games in 2027.
Referring to connectivity, Sangma spoke on the progress of Baljek Airport and noted that, upon completion of the ongoing and proposed projects, Dakopgre and Tura town as a whole would witness a major transformation.
