Family members of the late Robert Kharshiing, a former Rajya Sabha MP, MLA and president of the Khasi Students Union, visited his grave at the Laitumkhrah Catholic Cemetery here yesterday on his one year death anniversary.
They laid wreaths, lit candles and said prayers at his grave side.
Earlier, the Laitumkhrah unit of the KSU also visited the cemetery and laid wreaths and lit candles at his resting place.
Kharshiing died at the age of 63 last year following a long illness. He was an MP in the upper house of Parliament for one term from 2002 to 2008. He was also the chief whip of the Nationalist Congress Party in the Rajya Sabha.
Before that, he was the MLA for Laitumkhrah from 1990 to 1993 and the Rangbah Shnong of that neighbourhood from 1983 to 1985.
