Former finance minister Aubrey H. Scott Lyngdoh passed away today at the age of 93 at his residence in Pohkseh here.
Lyngdoh, fondly known as Bah Scott, served as an MLA for two terms from Jaiaw Constituency.
A veteran regional party leader, he won his first election in 1993 from the Hills People Union (HPU). In 1998 he won his second term as an MLA from the United Democratic Party (UDP).
In October 2002, he was sacked from the post of finance minister by then Chief Minister Flinder A. Khonglam.
Lyngdoh left politics in 2003 after he lost the elections to Paul Lyngdoh of KHNAM who is the present MLA from West Shillong.
An accomplished civil servant, Lyngdoh was the former Chief Secretary of Mizoram. He had also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Shillong Municipal Board.
Besides being an avid golfer, Lyngdoh was also an active member of the Meghalaya chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Culture Heritage (INTACH), where he served as the Convener.
Lyngdoh leaves behind his wife and four children.
His funeral service will be held at his residence at Pohkseh at 2 pm on March 9 and his mortal remains will be laid to rest at the cemetery of Jaiaw Presbyterian Church.
