As part of the ‘Iconic Week’ celebrations, under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and the financial inclusion agenda of the Reserve Bank of India, a field level financial literacy event was held in Mawpat today.
It was inaugurated by RBI Shillong general manager P Gangte.
Gangte informed about Iconic Week, from June 6 to 12, which is being observed to commemorate 75 years of independence and the launch of the JanSamarth portal, a one-stop digital portal for credit-linked government schemes that will directly connect beneficiaries to lenders.
There were around 80 participants, comprising students, members of self-help groups (SHGs), small business entrepreneurs, etc. A total of 27 sanction letters amounting to Rs 2.24 crore from the banks operating in the area were handed over to the beneficiaries.
