JHADC MDC Rikut Parien has said that the state of finance in the district council will be in danger if the forest checkpoints are taken over by the State government.
During a discussion on the budget today, Parein said the district council has to maintain its revenue generation activities and cannot allow the State government to snatch away the forest check gates like the weighbridges and beat offices.
He said the JHADC is already facing huge revenue loss and the district council has to carefully consider the share of revenue from minerals.
Parein also raised concern over the delay in issuing Land Holding Certificates to landowners and called on the Executive Committee to redevelop markets, preservation of culture and traditions, recognition of clans, promote tourism and employment generation activities.
