Meghalaya’s award-winning filmmaker, Dominic Sangma was conferred with the ‘Young Achievers Award’ by the Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited today to mark its 11th anniversary.
Besides Sangma, the company also presented the award to Assam’s sportspersons that included Tutumoni Boro (Archery) and Prathana Gogoi (Volleyball) and athlete Mehdi Hassan as well as Prakash Sutradhar for Innovation (Technology) and Arunchal Pradesh singer and musician Taba Chake.
The recipients were chosen based on their outstanding achievements. The awards were presented by Padmanav Chakravarty, Regional Manufacturing Head, North East and other key officials.
The award was instituted by Dalmia Cement in 2014 to appreciate and highlight young performers from varied fields like sports, arts, culture, film making, journalism, ecology, environment amongst others.
The award aims to promote, recognise and felicitate youth of the region and project them as role models for other youngsters.
Over last 10 years, more than 90 young talents of North East have been awarded by the company.
