Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 19, former Mawhati MLA Donbok Khymdeit and former Nongpoh MDC Rona Khymdeit officially joined the NPP during a grand ceremony held at Sajer Dorbar Hall campus in Nongpoh today.
Interestingly, the uncle-niece duo’s move to join the NPP was not a solitary one, as many party leaders and workers also made the transition alongside them.
The induction ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and State NPP president Prestone Tynsong, NPP national vice president Sniawbhalang Dhar, NPP MP candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh, Umroi MLA Damanbait Lamare, Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun and other prominent State and district NPP leaders.
In their speeches, Donbok and Rona Khymdeit expressed their confidence in the NPP’s ability to drive comprehensive development in the State, citing it as the primary reason for their decision to switch parties.
In addition, they pledged to collaborate closely with the NPP to advance the progress and prosperity of Ri-Bhoi district and the State as a whole.
