Shillong, Apr 21: Another police complaint has been lodged against former GHADC Deputy CEM Nikman Ch Marak for tampering and manipulation of case records, fabrication of judicial proceedings related to the cancellation of Nokmaship of Darangduragittim Aking.
The FIR was lodged by the Nokma Presina D. Songma and her family members at the Williamnagar police station on April 18.
The former deputy CEM is already facing accusations of forgery and conspiracy in connection with the illegal appointment of the nokma of Dorakgre Aking.
According to Presina and her family, one Krisbina D Sangma and others had file a case demanding cancellation of her Nokmaship by making false, baseless and politically motivated allegations.
However, the case has been marred by irregularities, such as unusually rapid proceedings and inadequate notice regarding hearings. She said, apart from one instance, other hearing dates were communicated without adequate notice, raising concerns about due process. Despite an adjournment petition based on medical grounds being filed, it was reportedly rejected without justification, and the process continued ex parte.
Furthermore, she said the final order, which announced the cancellation of her nokmaship on March 9, 2026, was not accessible to her until several weeks later, despite her repeated requests for a certified copy made on April 1, 2026. This delay has led to serious concerns regarding the integrity of the judicial process, Presina added.
Stating that after reviewing the case records, significant discrepancies were observed she said, “The order sheet dated March 9, 2026, exhibited visible alterations including cutting, correction, overwriting, and a lack of proper signatures near altered segments creating a strong suspicion of tampering of case.”
The family further attributed the delay in lodging the FIR to a need to file an appeal first. After reviewing the case records, they found multiple irregularities prompting the recent complaint.
