The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) today named its first list of seven candidates for the upcoming Meghalaya elections.
HSPDP president, KP Pangniang has been confirmed as the candidate for the Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency.
The other candidates include Evalyne Kharbani (Mawhati), Primson Makdoh (Umsning), Shakliar Warjri (Mawthadraishan), Sanjied Kynsai Shangrit (Nongstoiñ), Methodius Dkhar (Mawshynrut) and Medalsing Lyngdoh (Mawkyrwat).
HSPDP Chairman of the election committee, Witting Mawsor said that a second list of candidates for the upcoming Meghalaya assembly elections will be released soon.
The HSPDP also informed that it will contest the Meghalaya assembly elections from at least 15 constituencies.
In 2018 Meghalaya assembly elections, the oldest party managed to win only two seats –Sohiong and Mawkyrwat in Samlin Malngiang and Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar. The two has recently switched to the National People’s Party.
Pangiang however expressed confidence that the party will no doubt perform well in the coming elections. “The people still have faith in us when it comes to safeguarding the interest of the indigenous community and the State,” he said.
