East Khasi Hills recorded its highest single-day increase in Covid-19 cases since September 3 with 109 being reported around the district, including among 13 health workers.
Statewide, there were 243 new infections (highest since September 5), 262 recoveries and six fatalities.
Five of the deaths were in East Khasi Hills and one in East Jaintia Hills. Five of the six were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 109 new cases today, West Khasi Hills 75, Ri-Bhoi 32, South West Khasi Hills 10 and 17 between the other seven districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 118 recoveries, West Khasi Hills 91, West Garo Hills 16, West Jaintia Hills 16, Ri-Bhoi 12 and nine between the other six districts.
There are now 1,664 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 747 active cases, West Khasi Hills 313, West Jaintia Hills 236, Ri-Bhoi 174, South West Khasi Hills 79, West Garo Hills 57, East Jaintia Hills 24, East Garo Hills 13, South West Garo Hills 11, North Garo Hills nine and South Garo Hills one.
In all, Meghalaya has had 78,729 Covid-19 cases, of which 1,664 are active, 75,698 have recovered and 1,367 have died from the virus. The recovery rate increased to 96.15 percent. The fatality went back up to 1.74 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases rose to 179.71 and climbed for new deaths to 4.29.
