East Khasi Hills recorded 5,148 Covid-19 cases in June, which is a fall of more than half on May, when the district recorded 10,669.
The other 10 districts of Meghalaya, however, saw an increase of nearly 700 cases between May and June, rising from 8,083 to 8,767.
Overall, Meghalaya reported 13,915 new coronavirus infections this month, compared with 18,752 in May, a fall of over 25 percent.
There were also 260 Covid-related fatalities in the state, down from 407 in May.
Covid vaccination rates also picked up this month, with 2,23,300 being recorded statewide, an average of 7,700 per day, with an all-time high of 17,265 on June 17.
More Covid-19 tests were also carried out in June – 1,20,050 – than in any previous month, at an average of 4,000 per day.
