Shillong, Apr 21: Earth Day on the theme “Our Power, Our Planet” was celebrated at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) today.
Organised by the Department of Geology in collaboration with Shillong Chapter, Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD) the day also marked the 57th foundation of the ISTD.
The celebration included various activities designed to engage participants. Workshops, talks, and interactive sessions formed a significant part of the day, where experts discussed the impact of climate change on our environment. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about renewable energy, conservation techniques, and the importance of biodiversity.
An online quiz competition was also conducted for college and university students across Northeast India.
Prof. Devesh Walia, Dean, School of Human and Environmental Sciences, NEHU in his lecture encouraged students to actively engage in such quizzes and academic activities, emphasising their importance in enhancing awareness and promoting informed understanding of environmental issues.
