A driver of a vehicle carrying newspapers for the Meghalaya Guardian, an English daily based in Guwahati, was attacked at Umling today.
The incident occurred at around 5 am. A group of four persons assaulted the driver identified as Biren Boro and fled away with his mobile phone and cash.
The vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 JC 9434 was assigned to drop newspapers on a daily basis to Shillong.
A FIR has been filed at Nongpoh Police Station. Police are yet to identify assailants even as investigation is on.
