In an effort to strengthen strategies for combating substance abuse and enhancing rehabilitation efforts, DREAM (Drug Reduction Elimination & Action Mission) Director Francis Kharshiing is leading an 11-member delegation to Kerala on a three-day exposure visit.
The visit aims to gain valuable insights into Kerala’s advanced rehabilitation methodologies, successful awareness campaigns, and collaborative police strategies in addressing substance abuse.
The delegation comprises experienced professionals, including rehabilitation experts, senior health officials including Joint Director of Health Services (MI), a Psychiatrist, and a Senior Medical & Health officer trained in Substance use Disorder.
During the three-day visit, the delegation will engage in interactive sessions with various stakeholders and experts from renowned rehabilitation centres. The team will also visit renowned hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and community-based programs to observe their approaches and methodologies firsthand.
The Mission Director emphasised that the initiative reflects DREAM’s commitment to learning and adopting best practices from across the country to address the challenges of substance abuse. The findings from this exposure trip will be instrumental in shaping Meghalaya’s policies and initiatives in the fight against drug misuse.
