Shillong, Jun 22: The District Planning and Development Council (DPDC) of South West Garo Hills on Monday reviewed ongoing state schemes and initiated work on the draft annual plan 2027–2028, with a focus on faster execution and rural impact.
The meeting was held at Circuit House, Ampati, under the chairmanship of Salmanpara MLA Ian Botham K. Sangma, who is also DPDC Chairman. Rangsakona MLA Subir M. Marak, a DPDC member, attended and held discussions with heads of departments on various developmental programmes.
The departments provided insights into the current developmental programs. They discussed financial utilisation, accomplishments, and challenges encountered in implementing the projects under the annual plan for 2026–2027. The council analysed the effectiveness of these interventions and identified areas where additional support is necessary to enhance project outcomes.
Looking ahead to the draft annual plan for 2027–2028, departmental heads outlined their priorities, proposed schemes, and infrastructure requirements across diverse sectors, including education, healthcare, and rural development. Emphasis was laid on equitable fund allocation and the need for improved service delivery.
Sangma urged all officials to adopt an integrated, people-centric approach to planning and execution, to ensure that projects are completed on time and prudent use of funds, allowing benefits to reach those in rural and remote areas effectively.
The council asked departments to factor in the suggestions made during the meeting while finalising proposals for 2027–2028.
