Founding member of the Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) Alexander L Hek has blamed the district administration for the violence during a rally against unemployment.
Hek, now a BJP MLA, who also condemned what unfolded yesterday, said that the district administration has totally mismanaged the situation. “When the poor (contractual) teachers went on a peaceful protest they (authorities) used all means to stop them. But these people who are going and vandalising and beat up people. There is no law and order,” he said.
Questioning how the government runs the day without any law and order Hek said authorities should take action against those responsible for unleashing violence on innocent passersby. “They should not be spared. Anybody who did this,” he added.
