The Joint Action Committee of the Khasi Jaiñtia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) and Garo Hills deficit School Teachers and Employees Association (GHDSTEA) have decided to take three days leave from March 10 to 12 to protest against the state government’s failure to meet their demands.
Addressing the media, Vice-President of the KJDSTA and Chairman of the JAC, Suzan Syiem, said that the silent attitude of the government towards the deficit teachers who are trying to seek an audience for a very long time has compelled them to take the decision.
“We appeal to all school management, parents, and students to understand the steps we are compelled to take on the deaf attitude of the government towards us,” she said.
The deficit teachers under the banner of the KJDSTA and GHDSTEA have been demanding the disbursement of their salaries on time. According to the teachers, the monthly salary of the deficit teachers is paid only after three-five months and their arrears and other allowances are also pending.
