There were 262 new cases of Covid-19 in the state today, which took the total in Meghalaya since the pandemic began to over 75,000. There were also 279 recoveries and two fatalities.
East Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills recorded one death each. One of those was unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 162 new cases today, Ri-Bhoi 32, West Jaiñtia Hills 26, West Garo Hills 14, West Khasi Hills 12 and 16 among the other six districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 149 recoveries, West Jaiñtia Hills 36, West Garo Hills 32, West Khasi Hills 22, East Jaiñtia Hills 13, Ri-Bhoi 11 and 16 among the other five districts.
There are now 2,663 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,420 active cases, Ri-Bhoi 399, West Khasi Hills 269, West Jaiñtia Hills 209, South West Khasi Hills 138, West Garo Hills 116, South Garo Hills 29, East Jaiñtia Hills 23, North Garo Hills 23, South West Garo Hills 20 and East Garo Hills 17.
In all, Meghalaya has had 75,079 Covid-19 cases, of which 2,663 are active, 71,120 have recovered and 1,296 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 94.73 percent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.73 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases rose to 266.00 and dropped for new deaths to 5.00.
