Meghalaya’s number of active Covid-19 cases dropped to under 4,000 for the first time in exactly two months today, with the figure now standing at 3,964.
There were 365 new infections recorded today, 506 recoveries and five Covid-related fatalities.
East Khasi Hills reported 80 new infections. This is the lowest single-day increase since April 18 and the third day in a row with fewer than 100 cases recorded.
Meanwhile, West Garo Hills recorded 61 new cases, Ri-Bhoi 56, West Jaiñtia Hills 53, South West Khasi Hills 22, North Garo Hills 21, South West Garo Hills 17, South Garo Hills 15, East Garo Hills 15, East Jaiñtia Hills 13 and West Khasi Hills 12.
East Khasi Hills reported 293 recoveries (the highest since June 2), Ri-Bhoi 53, West Garo Hills 49, North Garo Hills 22, West Jaiñtia Hills 19, East Jaiñtia Hills 19, West Khasi Hills 17, South Garo Hills 17, South West Garo Hills seven, East Garo Hills six and South West Khasi Hills four.
Four fatalities were recorded in East Khasi Hills, along with one in West Jaiñtia Hills.
There are now 3,964 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,087 active cases, Ri-Bhoi 790, West Garo Hills 622, West Jaiñtia Hills 544, West Khasi Hills 239, North Garo Hills 162, East Garo Hills 122, South West Khasi Hills 116, East Jaiñtia Hills 109, South Garo Hills 96 and South West Garo Hills 77.
In all, Meghalaya has had 55,218 Covid-19 cases, of which 3,964 are active, 50,336 have recovered and 918 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has increased to 91.16 percent. The fatality rate has stayed level at 1.66 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases has declined to 408.57 and has dipped for new deaths to 5.43.
