The seven-day average of new Covid-19 infections in Meghalaya increased for the first time in 17 days today. An average of 400.29 cases is being reported daily in the state as of now.
Today there were 352 new cases, along with 649 recoveries and eight fatalities.
Six deaths were in East Khasi Hills and two in West Khasi Hills. Six of the eight were unvaccinated, the Health Department informed.
East Khasi Hills recorded 241 new cases today, West Jaiñtia Hills 40, Ri-Bhoi 28, West Khasi Hills 24 and 19 among the other seven districts.
East Khasi Hills accounted for 345 recoveries, West Khasi Hills 131, West Garo Hills 55, Ri-Bhoi 47, South West Khasi Hills 26, West Jaiñtia Hills 21 and 24 among the other five districts.
There are now 3,761 active Covid-19 cases in the state. East Khasi Hills alone accounts for 1,695 active cases, West Khasi Hills 471, West Jaiñtia Hills 454, Ri-Bhoi 393, West Garo Hills 383, South West Khasi Hills 175, East Jaiñtia Hills 46, East Garo Hills 40, South West Garo Hills 38, North Garo Hills 34 and South Garo Hills 32.
In all, Meghalaya has had 72,160 Covid-19 cases, of which 3,761 are active, 67,164 have recovered and 1,235 have died from the virus. The recovery rate has risen to 93.08 percent. The fatality rate stayed level at 1.71 percent. The seven-day rolling average for new cases increased to 400.29 and dipped for new deaths to 8.71.
