The rest of Meghalaya overtook East Khasi Hills in terms of active Covid-19 cases today, with the other 10 districts of the state accounting for 618 active cases compared to East Khasi Hills’ 552.
The district has been the epicentre of the Covid outbreak in Meghalaya, accounting for 5,974 infections out of the total of 9,382. However, with reduced numbers of coronavirus tests being carried out and 2,751 recoveries this month, the district’s number of active infections has fallen to its lowest point in several months.
Today there were 79 new infections reported in the state as well as 235 recoveries, of which 191 were in East Khasi Hills.
The other districts to record recoveries from the disease were West Jaiñtia Hills (23), West Garo Hills (nine), East Garo Hills (five), South Garo Hills (four), Ri-Bhoi (two) and South West Garo Hills (one).
New infections were recorded in West Garo Hills (27), East Khasi Hills (24), Ri-Bhoi (23), West Jaiñtia Hills (two), East Garo Hills (one), East Jaiñtia Hills (one) and West Khasi Hills (one).
Active cases in the state as a whole now stand at 1,170. There have been 8,125 recoveries and 87 fatalities.
