The number of recoveries from Covid-19 crossed the 10,000 mark in Meghalaya today, with 59 people recuperating from the disease today, which took the total number of recoveries to 10,014.
The recovery rate in the state is now 92.13 percent.
However, one more fatality due to the virus was reported in the state today, taking the total number of deaths from Covid-19 to 15 for November and 103 overall. The fatality rate continues to remain at 0.95 percent.
The deceased was identified as Sabita Saha (55) of Tura. She tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday at Holy Cross Hospital but declined to be admitted and died yesterday morning at home. The cause of death is believed to be Covid-19 pneumonia with severe anaemia. Hers is the 11th death from the disease in West Garo Hills, of which nine have come this month. The fatality rate in the district has now risen to 0.80 percent.
Meanwhile, there were 79 new infections reported today, along with the 59 recoveries.
Of the new infections East Khasi Hills accounted for 52 (11 armed forces/paramilitaries, 41 civilians), West Garo Hills 13, East Jaiñtia Hills six, East Garo Hills three, North Garo Hills two, West Jaiñtia Hills two and South West Garo Hills one.
The new recoveries were divided between East Khasi Hills (14), West Garo Hills (14), West Jaiñtia Hills (11), Ri-Bhoi (10), East Jaiñtia Hills (five), North Garo Hills (four) and East Garo Hills (one).
There are currently 753 active Covid-19 cases in Meghalaya, out of 10,870 total infections. There have been 10,014 recoveries.
The Health Department also informed that roughly 1,200 Covid-19 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours.
