There were 57 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Meghalaya today, the lowest in eight days. There were also 59 recoveries and no fatalities from the disease recorded today.
The total number of new cases this month reached 2,002 today, with November’s recoveries at 2,106 and fatalities at 22. In all, Meghalaya has had 11,454 Covid-19 cases, of which 893 are active, 10,451 have recovered and 110 have died from the virus.
Of the new cases 32 were in East Khasi Hills, nine in West Garo Hills, five in South West Garo Hills, four in South Garo Hills, three in West Jaiñtia Hills, two in East Garo Hills, one in North Garo Hills and one in Ri-Bhoi.
Two frontline health workers tested positive in East Khasi Hills, along with eight returnees to the district. In South West Garo Hills four new cases were detected in the Chengkompara cluster and one in Mahendraganj. The Siju Damikgittim cluster in South Garo Hills added another four new cases.
The new recoveries were split between East Khasi Hills (29), West Jaiñtia Hills (eight), East Garo Hills (seven), South Garo Hills (five), West Garo Hills (five), East Jaiñtia Hills (three), North Garo Hills (one) and South West Garo Hills (one).
The Health Department also informed that around 1,400 Covid-19 tests were carried out in the past 24 hours.
